On This Date in OLAA History

U.S. Navy Commander Lloyd W. Richards was a Navy A-6A Intruder pilot who successfully ejected 15 miles south of the Ashau Valley.  His RIO LTJG Richard Carl Deuter was killed in action.  4 Spads from what was then Detachment 2 based at Da Nang, participated in the rescue of Commander Richards.  The pilots involved were Maj. Dean DeTar, Lt. JW Weinig, Lt. Jax Roberts, and Mac Coleman.

NOTE – John Weinig received a DFC for this mission.  He does not recall who his wingman was on this mission.  I believe JW received a letter from Commander Richards for his efforts.  GET LETTER!!!
