ON THIS DATE IN OLAA HISTORY…

 

1969 – December 08; UH-1P #65-7935 of the 20th SOS, crewed by unkn (P), unkn (CP), unkn (AG) and unkn (AG), was shot down in the vicinity of Ban Don, RVN, crashing into the trees. The pilot was knocked unconscious and his feet and legs were trapped in the wreckage. The left gunner was also knocked unconscious and the right gunner and co-pilot were able to extract themselves from the wreckage. The left gunner regained consciousness and assisted the co-pilot and right gunner in trying to extract the pilot from the wreckage. An Army slick landed nearby and one of its gunners helped extract the pilot from the wreckage. The crew of the downed UH-1P was loaded on the U. S.
