On this date Don Engebretsen was involved in a SAR launch for a Marine F-4 that had been damaged by ground fire.  If my memory serves me well, the RIO had punched out of this aircraft when they were first hit.  I was on the wing and we escorted the damaged F-4 and observed a safe landing at Chu Lai Air Base with its 10,000 foot runway w/o incident.  I have no idea of what happened to the RIO.  There is no report on PJs In Nam…do other searches. NOTE…  The following pjsinnam.com accounting of Lynn Farnsworth 1st bailout on this date-   Another SAR occurred on this date which involved the loss of Misty 40 A & B.  PJS’s in Nam lists this event as being covered by Det 7 38 AARS and the 37 ARRS with an overwater rescue???  Did OLAA have any involvement with this mission???? Are there enough hours in a day for 691-G (in Mutza’s Book; E in some Form 5’s???) to fly 4 times???
