On This Date in OLAA History

Capt. Dave Friestad shot down flying a night sortie in Steel Tiger over southern Laos.  On this armed recee mission he found and engaged several trucks on a road about 35 miles west of the DMZ near Ban Boung.  He took a 37 mm hit and ejected immediately.  Dave evaded and was rescued by a Jolly in Detachment 1 from NKP…JG77 made pickup at 110/80/89 of Firefly 32 the next day.  Dave had to evade to avoid capture
