1970 – July 26; A HH-53C from the 37th ARRS crewed by Lt. Col. Royal A. Brown Jr. (P), Donald G. Beattie (CP), Donald R. Erickson Jr. (FE), James D. Scott (PJ) and Lewis Craig (PJ), rescued the crew of a F-4D (Call sign “Dipper 01”), Lt. Col. Richard W. Pennington (P) and Capt. Raymond L. Rigel (WSO), after they ejected from their 37 mm AAA damaged aircraft near the village of Ban Pha Bong-tai, Laos, about 12 miles west of the DMZ. Lt. Col.
